So it has been a few weeks since I last updated the blog. I wish I had a completed boat to show off all of the work we have been putting in. Well I don't, because we haven't. That doesn't mean we have been sitting on our hands either though. Here is what we had accomplished the last few weeks...
Amy and I got the interior all taped off for the paint inside the hatches. You will notice all of the bulkheads, side deck supports and cross deck supports are all in and permanently installed.
Ready for paint.
Here we are in progress painting the inside of the hatches. The Tequila Beach color looks really nice. Kirby Paint makes some VERY nice paint!
The paint took several days to cure out before it was not tacky. We had some cooler days with a little higher humidity than usual, so that likely explains it.
Once the painting was done, it was time to get after oiling the inner wood that will remain wood once the decks go on. This is Kirby's Salty Dog Deck Oil.
Here is what it looks like with the frames all oiled up. I will get a second coat on once all of the remaining hatch pieces go in.
Gary and Chad came over last week and we installed the deck supports at the Front & Transom areas, along with some other miscellaneous items. I was a little preoccupied since I had confirmed my spot on a 16-day River Trip down Grand Canyon for this July. The dory will not be making that trip.
We have had such a nice, mild winter here in Las Vegas, so this past Sunday Amy, our friend Rachel and me all went up to Red Rock for a hike up to Stoner's Chairs. The pictures below include a shot into Red Rock NCA, and a view back towards the Las Vegas Valley.
